Philomath Kids, Inc. is the brainchild of Emily Hughart-Gorayeb, an educator with extensive teaching experience across age groups.
Emily taught English composition courses at the college level before moving to New York City and finding her life’s work in teaching adolescent students. She has taught middle and high school English in the NYC metro area's private and public schools. Her expertise extends to private tutoring where she specializes in supporting students with ADHD, writing remediation, and guiding high school applicants through the complexities of essays and standardized test preparations, including the ISEE and SHSAT. She founded Philomath Kids after becoming a mother in February 2024.

Ideally, yes. Most clients schedule sessions for 1-2 hours at a designated time each week. Establishing consistent routines in a child's life is paramount to their overall learning and development. While we know things can evolve with activities and family events, Philomath Kids would like to have 48-hours notice of any schedule changes, and we will do all we can to accommodate the shuffle. Time slots are often (but not always) scheduled by clients per semester on a first-come, first served basis. We require at least 12 hours notice of cancellation. Late cancellations are subject to $100 fee.
